This is an original painting of the castle which is known locally as Castlekirk, this historical place dates back to the 12 th century. Believed to be one of the oldest mortared castles in Ireland, it was built on a tiny half acre island on Lough Corrib. it is linked with many historical Irish figures, one being Gráinne Ní Mháille or Grace O Malley.

This castle was featured in the RTE series ‘Scéalta na Lochanna’ .
